Tanzanite was formed around 585 million years ago by massive plate tectonic activity and intense heat in the area that would later become Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (where Tanzanite was first found)!
The colors in Tanzanite shift and transform from anywhere from pale lilac, warm lavender, violet, indigo, and periwinkle shades of all kinds depending on the angle you view the stones at.
