About this piece
Larvikite gets its name from Norway’s Larvik Municipality, the islet-spotted coastal community where it was first discovered. It’s a form of feldspar closely related to both Moonstone and Labradorite, which is why some refer to it as Black Moonstone or Black Labradorite. Like Labradorite, this smoky gray-black gem displays a mesmerizing labradorescence — a glittery flash of color caused by light diffracting off its thin internal layers.
This shimmering stone vibrates at a frequency similar to Labradorite, inspiring a sense of magic and possibility with its brilliant flashes of color.
