One of our favorite finds from the Tucson Gem Show, Shiva Lingams are a deeply revered stone, honored and respected deeply by Hindus. It is considered the sacred stone of the God Shiva, and fashioned as a gift of love and devotion by Parvati, his consort. As such it is the embodiment of the divine masculine and feminine, intertwined and cosmically connected, in balance and unified harmony. This is the goal within ourselves and Shiva Lingam with its banding shows us a direct connection to this.

Shiva Lingam represents all elements and the entire chakra system and the movement of kundalini, or life force energy, which moves vertically up and down the spine. For this reason, we highly recommend keeping the stone in a vertical orientation, as it represents a clear path of ascending and descending energy from root chakra and earth to crown chakra and the cosmos.

This stone has many deeply spiritual aspects, woven into its lore. At one level, it holds a grounded spiritual energy that root us while we connect to the cosmos. This Special stone keeps us on track with our faith and practice. It brings us a deep sense of peace, connection to ourselves and unity with all that is.

Hindu households, as well as temples, have a Shiva Lingam on an altar. They may be decorated with fresh flowers, bathed in incense and ghee (clarified butter), sung to with sacred songs and chants, and used as a focus during meditation.
We recommend you plant yours: offer it fresh air and sunshine, setting it vertically in a planter. Similar to Hindu traditions, offer it water. it will support a deep sense of calm and joy in your life and time of meditation or reflection.
