When using your Amethyst Gua Sha, you want to start with the neck, and finish at the top of your forehead. The purpose of this is to provide a clear path for lymphatic drainage. That’s why it is recommended to work from bottom to top, fully completing one half of the face before doing the same on the other side. This boosts circulation and reduces wrinkles. It is also suggested to prep your skin with an oil or moisturizer before using your Gua Sha, so there is no friction against the skin.
To begin, apply the flat surface of the Gua Sha to your collar bone on the far left side of your neck. Use a small amount of pressure to drag the Gua Sha up, reaching just below your jaw line. Repeat 5 times.
Then move the Gua Sha over to the right side of your neck, starting at the right collar bone and moving upward to the right jaw line. Again, repeat 5 times.
Finally, bring the Gua Sha to the center of your neck. Align the notches at the bottom of the Gua Sha with the center of your throat, and gently graze it up to the bottom of your chin. Repeat 5 times.
Once you’ve covered the entire neck, you’re ready to start on the face. First you’ll do the entire left side of the face, and then repeat all the same steps to finish the right side.
Begin at the center of your chin, and move the Gua Sha out toward your left ear, following the jaw line. Repeat 5 times. Then set the Gua Sha where your nose meets your left cheek. Stroke the Gua Sha out toward your left ear, dragging it just below the cheek bone. Repeat 5 times.
Very gently, place the Gua Sha beneath the eye, and stroke it out toward the left temple using little to no pressure. Repeat 5 times. Now place the Gua Sha just below the left eyebrow. This time, move the Gua Sha up, over the brow and toward the top of the forehead. Repeat 5 times.
After finishing the left side of the face, you’re ready to begin the right side. Repeat the same steps, starting at the chin and working your way up.
